4. Atlanta Falcons

The Falcons have a solid free safety in Ricardo Allen, who they are reportedly discussing a contract extension with as he enters his own contract year. But the opportunity to add Thomas, even if it would require some salary cap gymnastics for at least this year ($5.3 million in cap space right now, via Over the Cap), would be hard to turn away from.

Falcons head coach Dan Quinn was Seattle’s defensive coordinator in 2013 and 2014, when Thomas earned the two most recent of his three First Team All-Pro honors.

Atlanta don’t necessarily need a lot of help defensively. They finished ninth in the league in total defense (318.4 yards per game), 12th against the pass (214.3 yards per game), ninth against the run (104.1 yards per game) and eighth in scoring defense (19.7 points per game) last year. But they had just eight interceptions, tied for third-fewest in the league, including just one from Allen over 15 games. Thomas has two or fewer interceptions in three of the last four seasons, but he has continued to be a difference-maker with 33 pass breakups over that span.

The Falcons surely have aspirations to play in the Super Bowl, in their home stadium, next February. Making a deal for Thomas should be on the radar.
