1. Dallas Cowboys
Thomas and Dallas have been tied via trade speculation going back to his cornering of Cowboys’ head coach Jason Garrett in a postgame tunnel last season. As a Texas native, and University of Texas alum, it’s an easy tie.
Trade rumors surrounding Thomas and the Cowboys gained steam during April’s draft, but Seattle’s asking price seemed to curb things. Since then the speculation has been everywhere from the Cowboys not giving up the pursuit to being dismissed as media hype.
So what’s the deal with Earl Thomas and the Cowboys? A team official tells @TheAthleticDFW: “It’s a lot of media hype. Seattle not giving him away and we’re not overpaying.”

Stephen Jones says the Cowboys have had no recent talks with Seattle about Earl Thomas. Draft was the last time they talked.

Most recently, ESPN.com reporters Brady Henderson (Seahawks) and Todd Archer (Cowboys) both predicted Thomas will land with the Cowboys. Henderson extended to the possibility of a trade before the October deadline, if a deal can’t be worked out between now and Week 1.
The Cowboys are perpetually up against the salary cap. But they can easily take on Thomas’ salary for this year, with close to $14.4 million in cap space right now, and they can do a contract extension in line with what Thomas is likely to want going forward.
