Fantasy Football 2018: 7 rookie wide receivers you must target

August is the prime month for most Fantasy Football drafts which means its a great time to dig into some position rankings.

Each year there are several rookie wide receivers who burst onto the scene and make an impact. The impact they make on their team fails in comparison to the impact it could make on your fantasy football team.

Last year, JuJu Smith-Schuster played a major role in helping some owners win their leagues. His mid-season breakout produced 686 yards, 41 receptions and 4 touchdowns over the final 7 games.

Depending on the size of your league it is very likely that you landed Smith-Schuster on the waiver wire.

It’s these type of late additions that help put your team over the edge. Cooper Kupp of the Los Angeles Rams provided similar value. However, his production was more steady than the big-game performances from Smith-Schuster.

The biggest surprise from last year’s rookie receiving class was Keelan Cole of the Jacksonville Jaguars. Cole took advantage of injuries to Allen Robinson and Allen Hurns to develop a rhythm with quarterback Blake Bortles.

Last year’s group was hurt a lot by injuries. Both Corey Davis (Tennessee Titans), Mike Williams (Los Angeles Chargers), John Ross (Cincinnati Bengals) and Curtis Samuel (Carolina Panthers) all missed significant playing time.

Davis, Williams and Ross were top-10 picks and were expected to be major contributors. These are some players to keep an eye on for this season as they try to establish themselves.

The 2018 group of rookie receivers comes with a lot less hype than last year’s bunch. We didn’t see the first receiver picked until pick No. 24 with D.J. Moore to the Carolina Panthers.
