MLB DFS Picks – Standouts: August 3rd

Tonight’s MLB DFS Picks slate features 14 games with, Texas (6.5), Washington (5.6), Minnesota (5.4), Cleveland (5.3), and Baltimore (5.1), holding the best projected team totals. With high-priced pitchers like, Justin Verlander, Jacob deGrom, and Patrick Corbin available, finding value will be critical for success tonight. We’ll be aiming to highlight MLB DFS picks from the perspective of batted ball data, batter splits, line movement, and stolen base upside.

MLB DFS Picks: Batted Ball Stats

Miguel Sano – DK $4200, FD $2400

Although his price has moved up since making his return, Miguel Sano, has been hitting the ball very well of late. In the last 15 days, his batted ball distance is up 22 feet, his exit velocity is up 4 MPH, and his hard hit percentage is up 14%, over his yearly average. Minnesota has already seen line movement in their direction, and the game total is already up a half of a run, since opening.

Batter Splits

Joc Pederson – DK $3800, FD $2700

Joc Pederson will draw an advantageous matchup against the righty, Justin Verlander. Pederson is much better against right-handed pitching, with a .369 wOBA split (.197 better than when facing a lefty) and a .188 ISO split (.188 better than when facing a lefty). Pederson went off last night and could again tonight. The game total is trending towards 7.5 runs, which could be a good indicator for the Dodgers batters.

More from FanSided

Eddie Rosario – DK $4700, FD $2900

Eddie Rosario is another lefty on the good side of a lefty vs. righty matchup. Rosario will draw an attractive matchup against the righty, Heath Fillmyer. He is much better against right-handed pitching, with a .400 wOBA split (.116 better than when facing a lefty) and a .283 ISO split (.171 better than when facing a lefty). Rosario is a significantly more viable option on FanDuel, as he only costs $2900.

Line Movement

Chris Archer – DK $8200, FD $9000

Pittsburgh will host the visiting St. Louis Cardinals in a game in which the Pirates opened as -135 favorites. Since opening, this line has moved out to -169. In addition to the movement on the side, the total has also changed. The game total opened at 8.5 runs, but has since slid down a half of a run, to 8. This is a great sign for Chris Archer, as he makes his debut in a Pirates’ uniform. While St. Louis isn’t necessarily a team to target against, for strikeouts, Archer does hold a K/9 of 10.163. Archer is relatively cheap on DraftKings at only $8200.

Stolen Base Upside

Atlanta Base Runners

We’ll last night proved to be lucrative for the Braves’ base runners, as they accumulated three stolen bases. Although Ender Inciarte didn’t get the start last night, he should tonight, as they face the righty Jacob deGrom. deGrom has allowed nine stolen bases over the course of 138.1 innings pitched this year. This should be a small added boost to the Atlanta base runners tonight.
