Patrick Corbin is the third most-expensive starting pitcher on DraftKings but he is the top option to build your team around.

The August 3 DraftKings main slate features all but one game. The SDP/CHC game takes place at 2:20 PM EST, so they are the odd game out.m With 14 games to pick from, the pitching slate is full of top options to build your team around. If you want a guarantee of 20-plus points, then start with Patrick Corbin.

Corbin comes in at $10,400, the third most-expensive pitcher of the slate. He’s behind Justin Verlander ($13,100) and Jacob deGrom ($12,400). Both of those pitchers are excellent and possible Cy Young winners.

However, with their respective matchups, they can be had for a couple of runs and not earn the win. Verlander and the Houston Astros face Manny Machado and the Los Angeles Dodgers. deGrom will test his skills against the young Atlanta Braves. deGrom has the best shot to put up eight scoreless innings but comes away without a decision.

Corbin has a good offense behind him, starting with Paul Goldschmidt, Eduardo Escobar, AJ Pollock and David Peralta. He also has the benefit of facing the San Francisco Giants. There isn’t a single batter that I would be afraid of in that lineup.

Buster Posey isn’t hitting for power. Brandon Belt is hurt. Andrew McCutchen is hitting .257. Evan Longoria is at .249. Their most recent lineup saw Austin Slater and Steven Duggar in the batting order.

The third reason that Corbin is the pitcher to use is that he is pitching at home. Arizona Diamondbacks officials installed a humidor in Chase Field, which has stifled power all season.

The Diamondbacks are 18th in home runs at home compared to fifth last season. The Giants hit .239 with 16 home runs in July.

The last time Corbin faced the Giants, he pitched six innings and allowed one run on four hits and one walk while striking out five, earning 18.5 points. He’s averaging 18.8 points over his last 10 games.

While using just over 20 percent of your budget isn’t ideal, but there is no other player that will give back the value for his price like Corbin. Everything lines up for a great outing and should be in your lineup. You can use Gio Gonzalez ($7,000) as your second starter to offset the cost.
