Where is the 2019 College Football Playoff National Championship Game?

It’s never too early to look ahead to the 2019 College Football Playoff National Championship Game and plan a trip out to the west coast.

The 2018 college football season is drawing near and that means it’s time to start planning your road trips to visiting stadiums to see your team play, schedule time off work so you can visit your team at their bowl game, and if you’re lucky, a berth in the College Football Playoff.

This year’s National Championship Game will be played at Levi’s Stadium, in Santa Clara, Calif. The new stadium is also home to the NFL’s San Francisco 49ers.

It may not have the same beautiful vistas as Candlestick Park, but Levi’s Stadium is a technological masterpiece. The stadium has also been a boon to Santa Clara, a South Bay suburb famous for its tech companies and California’s Great America.

It was fate that brought Levi’s Stadium to the South Bay.

The stadium was originally slated to replace Candlestick Park in San Francisco, which was supposed to be part of a revitalization of Candlestick Point and the nearby Hunters Point neighborhood, which has long been targeted for gentrification.

But before the end of the decade, that deal fell through, and the 49ers were on the hunt for a new location for the stadium. Knowing that SF didn’t have another spot in the city to build Levi’s Stadium, the team looked south to Santa Clara, which had plenty of room beside Great America.

In 2010, Santa Clara voters approved financing for the stadium project, and four years later, Levi’s Stadium was up-and-running, instantly becoming one of the best venues in the NFL. The stadium has proven that it can host big events, recently hosting the Super Bowl, and there is no doubt that the building can host College Football’s biggest game.

Now that you know where the game is, all we need to know now is what two teams will be playing. Will Alabama and Georgia both make it back? Will Clemson make it back? What about the Ohio State Buckeyes? This season should be a fun one.
