One of the wildest trade deadlines in recent memory has come and gone. So which teams won?

The 2018 MLB trade deadline graced us with its ever evolving presence Tuesday. One elite talent in a walk-year was traded and one stayed home. In just 24 hours, the landscape of baseball as we knew it has changed, now we may have a new World Series favorite.

We started to see the action heat up several days before the deadline with a monster trade involving one of the games most elite talents in Manny Machado from Baltimore. He was shipped over to the Dodgers in what most would call a walk-year prospect package.

While we did not see the ever anticipated Harper trade (most around the league knew that would not happen), we did see enough to change the next three to four months of baseball. Some teams won, some teams lost, some teams set themselves up for a rebuild that could take years.

Now, let’s slide in to the best-of-the-best deadline teams.

Here are the top-5 winners of the 2018 MLB trade deadline.

5. Milwaukee Brewers

The beer crew is back and they are back in a big way, after years of just a few great players and no chance at a deep playoff run, they are set up for years. Which is thanks to actually trading those great players for younger guys who panned out, and FA they could sign with the added cap. Coming into the deadline, they had a loaded system, and seemed set-up.

However, it is sports, and better is always best.

Got: Mike Moustakas (3B), Joakim Soria (RP), Brad Miller (INF), Cash, Jonathan Schoop (INF)

Lost: Brett Phillips (OF), Jorge Lopez (P),  Kodi Medeiros (P), Wilber Perez (P), Ji-Man Choi (1B), Jonathan Villar (2B), Luis Ortiz (P), Jean Carmona (INF)

Boom. That would be the best way to describe this, with a large mic drop. Currently just one game back in the Central the Brew-crew managed to pull off two major trades: one getting the Royals “face of the franchise” in Moustakas, and one of the best up and coming second baseman in the game in Schoop. These two players will not only be cornerstones on their team, but ones for years to come that they won’t have to worry about paying. For middle-market teams, it is all about getting players with contracts under control. If the Brewers make it past the first round of the playoffs come back to this day, and say this is the day that changed their destiny.
