It’s probably not going to be as wild as the XFINITY Series race was on Saturday, but the NASCAR Cup Series race at The Glen should be plenty of fun, and we tell you how to watch live.

Aside from the usual differences that road course races bring to the NASCAR schedule, the XFINITY Series race at Watkins Glen International was even more memorable than usual. The Cup Series stars will do their best to put on a suitable encore on Sunday for the Go Bowling at The Glen.

Saturday was historic as it was the first time ever at Watkins Glen — and only fifth time in XFINITY Series history — that the rain tires and windshield wipers had to come out for a NASCAR race. The wet track made for crazy visuals as cars kicked up water and experienced road course racers like AJ Allmendinger were right at home, but Team Penske teammates Joey Logano and Brad Keselowski rose to the top once the precipitation stopped and the track dried.

No inclement weather is expected Sunday, but there’s still a wrinkle to the proceedings already because instead of NASCAR announcing a field and then having to change it after handing out inspection violations, the Watkins Glen inspections are only taking place Sunday morning. That means the starting grid will only be revealed hours before the race, but for the time being, Joe Gibbs Racing teammates Denny Hamlin and Kyle Busch were fast enough to claim spots on the front row. Chase Elliott, still looking for his elusive first Cup Series victory, and defending series champion Martin Truex Jr. are the provisional Row 2 starters.

Road course ace AJ Allmendinger lurks in eighth and Kasey Kahne unofficially will start 10th, both needing a win to make the playoffs. There should be no lack of urgency when the green flag drops in New York.

Next. Bill Elliott to make NASCAR return at Road America. dark
