Welcome to the Sunday edition of WNBA DFS Lineup Advice, a fantasy basketball column dedicated to finding you the best key players and value picks on today’s slate to build your lineups around.

The last time we had four games on a WNBA DFS slate was before the All-Star break on July 27. I was starting to get burnt out on all the short slates, it’s nice to have a little bit bigger of a player pool to dip our toes in today.  Fanduel has split the games into two slates today, one start at 3 p.m. ET and the other one begins at 7 p.m. ET. DraftKings has one main slate starting at 3 p.m. and covering all four games.

For those of you stopping by for the first time, I would like to thank you for checking out WNBA DFS Lineup Advice here at FantasyCPR.com Here is a brief summary of what I cover in each article:

  1. Where to Play (Websites, contest rules, and prizes)
  2. Game Times, O/U, Spreads from Oddshark.com
  3. Key players from each game (Over 6K on Fanduel,10K on DraftKings)
  4. Value picks from each game (Under 4.5-K on Fanduel, 6k on DraftKings)
  5. Team stats from WNBA.com
  6. Player projections from LineStarApp.com
  7. Final Thoughts on the slate. (Stacks, fades, injuries, etc.)

It’s important to remember these articles are just a first look at the slate. For injury updates, starting lineups, pictures of my dog, and any other WNBA DFS news throughout the day – follow me on Twitter @whelan_ej

WNBA DFS Lineup Advice – 8/5/2018

3 p.m.   Las Vegas Aces (12-14)  vs. Connecticut Suns  (15-12)  170 O/U  CON -10.5

LV – Off rating  99.6   Def rating 102.1  Pace 83.2  Off ppg  80.3   Def ppg 82.2
CON – Off rating 106.5  Def rating 100.2  Pace 80.7  Off ppg  85.9   Def ppg  80.9

Key Players:

A’Ja Wilson – Wilson has averaged 24 points and 12 rebounds a game vs. CON this year.  LineStar has her projected to score 42.18 on Fanduel. She is priced down a little bit on DraftKings, I will have some exposure to her there. On the short Fanduel slate there are pivots in her price range with better matchups and game scripts. Kayla McBride is also in play today for the Aces.

Courtney Williams – Williams has a great matchup today and has been lighting it up the last few games. She is another player I will have more exposure to on DraftKings than Fanduel. Her price tag on FD is a little high I would save a $1000 and play Jonquel Jones. Or pay up a little for Alyssa Thomas who is playing more minutes and has a higher GPP ceiling.

Value Picks:  Carolyn Swords (FD) Morgan Tuck (FD &DK)

4 p.m. Washington Mystics  (15-11)  vs. Dallas Wings  (14-13)  TBD

WAS – Off rating 105.8    Def rating 103.2  Pace   79.6  Off ppg   81.1 Def ppg 79.2
DAL –  Off rating  106.6   Def rating  101.9  Pace   82.1  Off ppg  87.7  Def ppg   83.6

Key Players:

Elena Delle Donne – EDD is my favorite stud on the short Fanduel slate. She put up 5 blocks against Dallas last time out. She was 3-13 from the field but still managed to put up around 35 fantasy points. She has been shooting the ball well lately and I expect her to score 20+ points against the Wings today. LineStar has her projected to score 43 points on Fanduel.

Liz Cambage – Cambage has been crushing lately. She’s averaging over 30ppg in her last 5 outings and had been cleaning up on the glass. If Skylar Diggins-Smith misses again than Liz will be a lock today. LineStar has her projected to score 47.96 today on Fanduel. She carries some risk because of her foul trouble, and there are plenty of options up front for Dallas if you want to pivot to someone cheaper. Kayla Thorton is my favorite of the bunch.

Value Picks:  Aerial Powers (FD & DK) , Kaela Davis (FD)

LOS ANGELES, CA – OCTOBER 1: Seimone Augustus #33 of the Minnesota Lynx high fives teammates forward Maya Moore #23 and Rebekkah Brunson #32 of the Minnesota Lynx after scoring a basket against Los Angeles Sparks during the second half of Game Four of WNBA Finals at Staples Center October 1, 2017, in Los Angeles, California. WNBA DFS Lineup Advice – 8/5/2018

7 p.m.  Atlanta Dream (17-10)  vs.  Minnesota Lynx (15-12) 155 O/U  MIN -5

ATL –  Off rating  96.6   Def rating  96    Pace  82   Off ppg 79.3  Def ppg 78.7
MIN – Off rating  99.6   Def rating  98.2   Pace  78.7  Off ppg  78.4   Def ppg  77.3

Key Players:

Slyvia Fowles – I won’t be targeting this game on DK but with only two games on the FD slate I will have to have some exposure to it.  LineStar has her projected to score 39.95 on Fanduel. She’s the best option on MIN today, but that isn’t saying much. She’s a double-double threat every time she steps on the court, and if Moore plays poorly again Fowles will get a chance put more shots up. She has a high ceiling and a relatively safe floor.

Angel McCoughtry – McCoughtry is another player that I’m not too excited about rostering today. In fact, I’m not sure I want her in my lineups at all. Both evening games have low point totals, and three of the four teams feature a defense rating south of 100. That said, Atlanta is hot right now and Minnesota is struggling. I like the road team in this game, I just don’t think McCoughtry is the Dreamer I want to target. Her GPP upside is appealing, but I don’t think we will see a big game from her today.

Value Picks:  Cecelia Zandalasini (DK)  Monique Billings (FD &DK)* if Dantas sits.

7 p.m. Phoenix Mercury (16-12)  vs.  Los Angeles Sparks (16-11) 160.5 O/U  LOS -7

PHO -Off rating 104.7  Def rating  102.7  Pace  80.6  Off ppg  84.4  Def ppg  82.8
LOS – Off rating  101.4  Def rating  98.1   Pace  78   Off ppg  79.4   Def ppg  76.8

Key Players:

Brittney Griner – She has scored 25 points in both of their last two games. If you are gonna pay up for a forward on the short Fanduel slate, I would go with Fowles. Griner’s got a tough matchup today, and I won’t have much exposure to her on either site. Taurasi is in a tough spot too, but she’s a little cheaper and has just as good of a chance at returning value.

Candace Parker – Parkers splits actually favor her on the road, but she has been playing well at home lately. LineStar has her projected to score 42.39 points on Fanduel. It’s not the best matchup on paper, and her price tag is a little too high for me on DraftKings. I’d rather save a little money and take an elite guard on DK. Chelsea Gray is also in play on both sites today.

Value Picks: Stephanie Talbot (FD & DK) , Briann January (FD)

FINAL THOUGHTS

  1.  I am expecting a lot of people to target the WAS/DAL game. There is still no point total for this game, but I expect it to be around 178. Stacking the guards from this game with a big could work out well on both sites.
  2.  The O/U for the LV/CON game looks a little low. Both teams play at a decent pace and have defensive ratings of 100+. I will be taking the over in this game, and LV against the spread.
  3.  Mid-tier options for Fanduel early slate:  K. Toliver, A. Gray, N. Cloud, J. Jones, K. Thorton
  4.  Mid-tier options for Fanduel main slate: E. Williams, R. Montgomery, R. Bruson
  5. Injuries that could impact the slate: Skylar Diggins-Smith (?), Damiris Dantas (ques) , The Sparks are HEALTHY!!!
