Now, with no further ado…

The Notebook

No romance list could be complete without a Nicholas Sparks movie (or two in this list’s case). He is undeniably the master in the romance genre and most (if not all) of his novels have been turned into movies. It was his hit novel The Notebook that really put him on the map though. The success of the film is in part to its timeless story, incredible costumes (1940s fashion was the best) and its idyllic setting. It’s a story, and a love that we all wish for, but so few rarely get.

It is the story of Noah (Ryan Gosling) and Allie (Rachel McAdams), a couple who met in their teens and were separated by overbearing parents, war and other lovers who find their way back to each other after WW2. There are a few plot twists that I won’t mention in case you haven’t seen it, but things aren’t easy for either of these characters, but they prove that true love really does conquer all.

Fun Fact: Gosling and McAdams were actually a real couple during (and after) the filming of this movie, which really adds to the sexual chemistry and the deep emotional connection between these two. The couple even won “best kiss” at the MTV Movie Awards and reenacted their iconic kiss on stage much to the enjoyment of pretty much everyone on earth.
