LeBron James is set to further establish his business brand by serving as executive producer in a three-part documentary series, “Shut Up and Dribble.”

Los Angeles, California is a mecca for the entertainment business, and perhaps Los Angeles Lakers mega-free agent signing LeBron James was attracted to the city for that reason. James, an accomplished businessman off the court, has dabbled in television and movies throughout his NBA playing career. With the ink on his contract for the Lakers now dry, James is ready to get to work, and he’s set to add the television network Showtime to his portfolio. James will reportedly executive produce a documentary titled “Shut Up & Dribble.” The title comes from the infamous comments made by Fox News host Laura Ingraham this past February, chastising James for commenting on the political landscape, according to ESPN.

"The series traces the modern history of the league and its players, starting with the 1976 merger of the freewheeling American Basketball Association and the National Basketball Association, exploring how the top players have expanded their reach off the court in fields such as business and fashion while becoming icons in the process.James has another show, “The Shop,” debuting Aug. 28 on HBO, in which he leads conversation and debate among his guests in barbershops around the country."

James found himself under the political microscope when President Donald Trump made disparaging comments about him on Twitter last week. Trump commented on the interview between James and CNN’s Don Lemon after James said that Trump used sports to divide the country. Trump’s tweet caused a stir in both the sports and political worlds, but if you look at Trump’s history, it shouldn’t be a surprise.

This, perhaps, is why James is helping curate this documentary. James is obviously more than an athlete; he’s a voice, a leader but most importantly, one of the most impactful people on the planet. Someone of that magnitude who uses their power to change things for the better will always leave an impact.
