The Chicago Bears and Cincinnati Bengals are set to square off in the first full week of NFL preseason games.

Most common NFL fans find the preseason to be a bit boring. However, this week’s game between the Chicago Bears and Cincinnati Bengals will offer a chance to see some of the potential breakout players. It will also give the first look at the starting units– even if just for a few plays.

Start time

The game is schedule to kick off at 7:00 p.m. ET.

How to watch

If you have the NFL Preseason Game pass you can stream these games from anywhere.

Chicago– the local Fox channel will be carrying the game while it can be heard on WBBM radio station.

Cincinnati– the Bengals preseason network will be carrying the game which can be heard on the local radio stations WLW-AM (700), WCKY-AM (ESPN 1530) and WEBN-FM (102.7)

Preview

The Bengals recently released their first depth chart which had a few interesting nuggets. It was a bit of a surprise to see both Jake Fisher and Cedric Ogbuehi listed as backups. Bobby Hart is penciled in at right tackle which would be a spot for either Fisher or Ogbuehi.

A.J. Green is obviously the No. 1 wide receiver but the rest of the group is starting to take shape. Tyler Boyd is listed as a starter with Josh Malone and John Ross next in line.

This report from Fake Teams talks about how Ross has looked good in camp. The preseason will be important for the former first round to re-establish himself as a potential game-changing piece of the puzzle.

There wasn’t anything of note regarding the defensive depth chart. However, Vontaze Burfict isn’t expected to play this week.

Chicago plans on using a good bit of their starters this week after holding them out in the Hall of Fame game. It will be the first look at Mitch Trubisky working in Matt Nagy’s offensive system. The hope is he shows a strong presence and solid grasp of the offense.

Another player to watch is Kevin White who is looking to finally get his career on track. Injuries have kept the former No. 7 pick from finding a rhythm. White is locked in a battle for the No. 3 wide receiver spot with rookie Anthony Miller.

While White has looked strong in training camp, Miller has stood out and appears to have the inside track on winning the job.

The makeup of the Bears interior offensive line still seems to be a work in progress. Cody Whitehair is getting the majority of snaps at center, but rookie James Daniels is starting to see some action there.

Daniels played center last year at Iowa and entered the draft as one of the top rated players at his position.

If Daniels pushes Whitehair off of center it would mean that Eric Kush takes the bench and Whitehair shifts to guard.

Unfortunately, the biggest storyline coming out of Bears camp is the absence of first round pick Roquan Smith. His holdout has caused a lot of waves and is not jeopardizing his ability to make an immediate impact.

Sleepers to watch

The preseason is a great opportunity for depth players to make a name for themselves. In this game the Bears to keep an eye on are Javon Wims (WR), Adam Shaheen (TE), Rashaad Coward (OT), Bilal Nichols (DL), Roy Robertson-Harris (OLB) and Isaiah Irving (OLB).

Cincinnati has plenty of players to watch including Auden Tate (WR), Mark Walton (RB), Sam Hubbard (DE), Andrew Brown (DT), Malik Jefferson (LB) and Jessie Bates III (DB).
