The Indianapolis Colts and the Seattle Seahawks kick off their preseason action tonight at CenturyLink Field.

These teams have met 18 times in the preseason and the series is split nine games apiece. During the regular season, they have played each other 12 times and the Colts hold a 7-5 advantage. The last time they met was week four of last season, and the Seahawks dismantled the Colts 46-18.

Despite finishing above .500 for the 6th consecutive season, the Seahawks missed the playoffs for the first time 2011.

Offensively, the team is still led by quarterback Russell Wilson. However, this offseason he lost one of his favorite targets, Jimmy Graham. Last season, Graham was the only player on the roster to record double-digit receiving touchdowns.

His number one wide receiver, Doug Baldwin, aggravated a sore knee at the start of training camp and will likely miss the entire preseason. He should be ready to play week one against the Denver Broncos.

At the running back position, Seattle will lean on first-round draft pick, Rashaad Penny. Penny will be competing with Chris Carson, Mike Davis and CJ Prosise for the starting role.

The biggest concern for the Seahawks on offense is their line. They did sign Duane Brown to a three-year, $36.5 million contract extension, but didn’t do much after that.

Seattle’s once feared defense is currently having an identity crisis. Kam Chancellor announced his retirement due to injury, Richard Sherman was released and signed with the San Francisco 49ers and Earl Thomas hasn’t reported to camp because of a contract dispute.

They added Shaquill Griffin in the fourth-round of the NFL Draft and he has caught the attention of many at camp so far. Griffin had a stellar career at UCF, and was one of the top performers at the NFL Scouting Combine.

As for the Colts, it appears their quarterback will finally return. Andrew Luck missed all of last year as he still recovers from shoulder surgery. According to Terry Blount, Luck will start against the Seahawks. This will be his first game action since Jan. 1, 2017.

Last season, the Colts were sacked the most in the NFL. As a result, they addressed their offensive line this offseason by drafting  Quenton Nelson and Braden Smith. They also signed guard Matt Slauson and tackles Austin Howard and J’Marcus Webb. Indianoplis will need to shift its line around after Anthony Castonzo suffered a hamstring injury. This unit has huge responsibilities with the return of Luck and the franchise quarterback will rely on them to keep him on his feet.

According to Oddsshark.com, the Seahawks are two-point favorites. The moneylines are set at Seahawks -128 and Colts +118. This games’ under/over is set at 34.5 points.

Colts first-year head coach Frank Reich will look to begin his coaching reign on a high note, even if it’s only an exhibition game. Meanwhile, Pete Carroll needs to be creative in oder to have success with this roster.
