Rangers hope Texas Live will get more people in the stands

The Rangers are praying that the new Texas Live entertainment district will get more people into the stands at Globe Life Park.

The Texas Rangers are hoping that the new Texas Live entertainment venue will be the jolt that will bring fans back to the ballpark.

The Rangers have had a long season, both on the field and in the stands as the team slogs through a tough rebuild after years of being an American League powerhouse. Although the team has started to improve — it is currently on a 10-3 streak — the Rangers are still dead last in the AL West with a 52-66 record.

With a record like that, it’ll be hard for the team to entice fans to head to the ballpark, and that’s where Texas Live comes in.

The development, which sits in between Globe Life Park and AT&T Stadium, is a Texas-size destination that features all sorts of attractions that will (hopefully) transform the area into a premier sports entertainment hub.

The 200,000 square foot venue will have restaurants operated by some of North Texas’ greatest sports legends. Troy Aikman, a football God in these parts, has opened Troy’s, a Texas-inspired restaurant that will offer gourmet food and live music. Alex “Pudge” Rodriguez, who is still a fan favorite in DFW, has his own pizza restaurant in Texas Live, Pudge’s Pizza. And don’t think that Texas Live will be without a BBQ joint, as Lockhart Smokehouse will smoke up the finest BBQ this side of Central Texas.

All of this, combined with events year-round, are made to bring a new experience to Ranger games and build back up the attendance figures. The Rangers have an underrated fanbase, and it’s quite sad to see so many empty seats at GLP this season.

Here’s hoping the product on the field improves, and Texas Live helps with the revitalization of the franchise.
