Watford, after an impressive spell to begin the season, fell off toward the second half and finished in 14th place. Despite losing the talented Richarlison to Everton, Watford have high hopes for their 2018-19 campaign. Gerard Deulofeu will be the focal point, especially in the final third, with Troy Deeney. Outside of them, however, there are some question marks. Facing Brighton in the home opener won’t be the easiest of matches, but Watford should be able to take care of business in front of their home fans on Saturday.
After being promoted to the top flight, Brighton held their own decently well, securing 15th-place finish in 2018-19. Newly-promoted sides typically struggle, but Pascal Gross and Mat Ryan carried the Seagulls through the season. To stay up this season, however, the club have been busy in the transfer market, breaking their transfer record on AZ Alkmaar’s Alireza Jahanbahksh, and bringing in several other players as well.
