An injury forced WWE superstar Dean Ambrose out of action for months. On the Aug. 13 edition of “Monday Night Raw,” the Lunatic Fringe returned.

The moment a WWE superstar returns to television, whether on a pay-per-view or the USA Network, gives the WWE Universe great excitement. That’s especially true when it’s done properly. One of their favorites, Dean Ambrose, sustained a serious triceps tendon injury on Christmas Day, forcing him out of action for over six months.

On the eve of the WWE’s biggest pay-per-view of the summer, SummerSlam, Seth Rollins saw himself at two-to-one odds against Intercontinental champion Dolph Ziggler, and Drew McIntyre. With McIntyre in Ziggler’s corner on Sunday, Rollins closed “Monday Night Raw” by announcing the return of the Lunatic Fringe.

For the last few weeks, WWE fans were chanting Ambrose’s name as his comeback was hinted by the writers on numerous occasions. The most-recent update by FanSided.com was in April. Ambrose was spotted in a sling in Birmingham, Alabama, the sight of where his operation occurred. At that time, it was approximately four months since his surgery.

In an article on WWE.com, Dr. Jeffrey Dugas talked about Ambrose’s injury and explained the complexity of what exactly happened.

"“He tore some of the distal triceps tendon where it attaches to the forearm bone, called the olecranon,” Dr. Dugas told WWE.com. ““He basically tore about 50 percent of the triceps tendon away from the bone."

That’s slightly similar to what happened to Triple H in the early-2000’s, he tore his quad completely off the bone. The COO of WWE even finished the match he was in. He was out of action for several months.

Ambrose will automatically become a figurehead on WWE’s flagship show, “Monday Night Raw.” The interesting question moving forward is how the former-Raw Tag-Team champions will co-exist if they continue along the same path. A heel turn by Ambrose shouldn’t be ruled out for SummerSlam on Aug. 19.

In a recent interview by The South China Morning Post during a WWE tour of Shanghai, he called Ambrose’s injury a “blessing in disguise for my singles career.” Could he be setting up a potential feud with Ambrose?
