With the college football season slated to kick off later this month, it is time to take a look at the top 20 quarterbacks for the upcoming season.

It is the most wonderful time of the year, as the college football season is slated to kick off later this month. The most important position on the gridiron is the quarterback spot, and in this piece, we look at the top 20 quarterbacks in the FBS.

From the Big Ten to the SEC, the quarterbacks are going to dominate the college football landscape, and there are a few that could hear their name called in the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft next April.

Here are the top 20 quarterbacks in college football.

Brian Lewerke kicks off our top-20 ranking, and based on his production a year ago, he could develop into one of the best signal-callers in Michigan State history. After redshirting back in 2015, Lewerke appeared in four games for the Spartans during the 2016 season but suffered a broken tibia.

In 2017, Lewerke entered the season as the team’s unquestioned starter, and he certainly is not going anywhere anytime soon. The 6-foot-3 signal-caller threw for 20 touchdowns in his first season as a full-time starter, against only seven picks, and finished his sophomore season as the MVP of the Holiday Bowl.

In that game, a win against Washington State, Lewerke threw for 213 yards and three touchdowns, while also racking up 73 yards on the ground. Heading into 2018, he is on the Davey O’Brien and Maxwell Award watch lists, and after leading the Spartans to a seven-win improvement last season, the sky is the limit for him and his teammates this Fall.
