Barcelona host Alaves on Saturday, August 18 at the Camp Nou. Here’s all the info you need to watch.

Barcelona begin the defense of their title against lowly Alaves. Without making a huge splash in the transfer market, the Catalans were able to retool nicely adding the likes of Arturo Vidal who should replace Paulinho’s role in the midfield, along with young Brazilian talents Arthur and Malcom. Barcelona won 16 times and tied 3 games at home last year and if they are to win the title again this is a game where they need to get all three points. The only notable absence for the hosts is Sergi Roberto who misses out due to a carry over suspension from last season. This will be the first game for Barcelona in the post-Iniesta era.

Alaves managed to avoid relegation last season, finishing in 14th place, defying the odds at the end of the season as they won five of their last seven games. Alaves’s manager Abelardo, who is a former Barcelona player, has a few injury concerns as both winger Ibai Gomez — who scored the winner in the 2016 victory at the Camp Nou — and Brazilian defender Rodrigo Ely are ruled out indefinitely.
