AC Milan face Genoa at San Siro Stadium on Sunday, Aug. 19. Here’s all the info you need to watch.

Following the World Cup and summer break, the Serie A season begins on Saturday. In their first game of the season, AC Milan host Genoa at the San Siro on Sunday. After a poor start to the season last year, Milan fired Vincenzo Montella and replaced him with Gennaro Gattuso. Following the managerial change,  Milan rose in the standings, finishing sixth. Genoa had an up and down season finishing 12th.

Gattuso had a busy summer, selling and signing players. Milan sent Leonardo Bonucci back to Juventus and signed Gonzalo Higuain and center-back Mattia Caldara. Higuain scored 16 goals last season and has found the back of the net 111 times since first coming to Serie A in 2013. The addition of Higuain gives Milan what they did not have last season, a consistent goal scorer. Caldara is considered to be one of the better young center-backs in Italy. Perhaps Milan’s most intriguing signing was Tiemoue Bakayoko who joined the club on a year-long loan deal that Milan will have the option of making permanent. Bakayoko was the prized signing for Chelsea a year ago but struggled to find his place with the club. With Chelsea signing Jorginho this summer, Bakayoko was unlikely to see the field. With Milan, the French midfielder will have another chance to prove his worth at a major club.

Genoa also spent the summer making several moves hoping to upgrade their club. The Red and Blues signed former Milan striker Gianluca Lapadula, who scored six goals last season. Polish striker Krzysztof Piatek signed this summer and made his debut for the club in Coppa Italia scoring four goals in 60 minutes against Serie B side Lecce.

Milan picked up four points in the two games against Genoa last season. The clubs played to a scoreless draw at the San Siro, with Milan winning the reverse fixture 1-0.
