Ever wanted to have a number one pick in the NBA Draft pay for you to do something? Well boy, oh boy does Deandre Ayton have good WNBA-centric news for you.

Deandre Ayton, best known as the most recent victim of the Phoenix Suns scouting department, has money now. He probably did in college too, but not officially, so now it’s different. The NCAA isn’t different. They’re still terrible.

But Ayton isn’t terrible! In fact, if summer league is any indication, he’s at least above average, and that’s the best direction from average you can be. And basketball isn’t the only thing he’s better than bad at, he seems to be a nice guy as well. Unfortunately, searching for “Deandre Ayton Nice” doesn’t get you a long list of all the nice things he does, so I’m going to have to tell you about one.

BOOM.

That right there is notice that Mr. Ayton Sir has purchased 300 seats-worth of tickets for you, the viewing public, to sit in and watch the opening round single-elimination playoff game between the Phoenix Mercury and the Dallas Wings. The WNBA has heard the many complaints of NBA fans saying the first round of the playoffs is too long at seven games. In response, the WNBA has been all “Check it, nerds. We’re skipping right past five games, right past three, and making the series one game. Can you handle that? Can you?”

Next. Julius Randle is in a perfect situation, but for how long?. dark

Can you? There’s only one way to find out. If you live in the Phoenix area and feel like not being an idiot, maybe get one of those tickets. Who knows how much longer you’re going to have to see Diana Taurasi in person? And Brittney Griner dunks sometimes, which is far more often than I do. It’s important to do things that are fun, and this is one of those things.

TRIVIA NOTE: Astute readers might notice that both the Phoenix Mercury and the Phoenix Suns start with the world “Phoenix.” That’s because they both play in the same city, and the name of that city is Phoenix.
