Dwyane Wade is one of the greatest Miami Heat players of all time, and Pat Riley wants him on his team for another season.

With Dwyane Wade just a few months away from turning 37 years old, and having spent the last few years moving around from Chicago to Cleveland, and then back to Miami, there has been plenty of talk about the possibility of retirement.

Wade had an offer to play in China on a three-year deal, but he insisted that if he returned to the game of basketball in 2018-19, he would only be playing for the Miami Heat, the team where he has spent most of his career and has won three NBA titles. If the Heat weren’t willing to bring him back for another season, then retirement would likely be the answer.

But Wade has meant the world to the Heat organization, and team president Pat Riley is ready to bring the future Hall of Famer back. It’s highly unlikely that Miami stands a chance at winning another championship with Wade, especially given the rising competition in the Eastern Conference and the powerhouses in the Western Conference, but Riley believes it’s worth bringing Wade back and at least giving it a shot.

His main priority is signing Wade, and he’s not really concerned about the money aspect of it.

“I don’t think this is about negotiating a mid-level or dollars,” Riley said, according to the Sun Sentinel. “It’s about getting Dwyane back. It’s not really about the tax right now. Even though we have tax situation, we’ll work our way around that.

“All the business aspects of the tax and the cap, that’s all part of the equation, but let’s get the team together.”

Wade was drafted by the Heat fifth overall in 2003, behind both LeBron James and Carmelo Anthony. His initial run in Miami was for 13 seasons, winning three championships and being named Finals MVP in 2006. Though he hails from Chicago, he’s become synonymous with the city of Miami and will forever be a Heat legend.

Riley knows that, and that’s why he would love to see Wade taking the court at American Airlines Arena for one more season.
