One of the best tools to use in preparation for your fantasy football season is running through a few mock drafts.

The Fantasy Football world continues to grow by leaps and bounds. There are always new formats and web sites popping up. Most of the top fantasy sites features a look at a mock draft. This tool provides a glimpse of what you can expect on draft day.

There a good bit of mock drafts out there just like the one I completed in this article. They typically are run by experts and show how they would handle the draft.

This article takes a different approach in that it includes more every-day people making the picks. It might be more in line with what you can expect to see when your draft day arrives. For reference, I held the eight pick in this draft which was designated as PPR format.

The PPR format changes things when looking at your draft strategy. It elevates the wide receiver position and those running backs who are heavily involved in the passing attack.

Actually, I selected three wide receivers in the first four rounds. It left me a little thin at running back but my overall opinion is that there’s more upside depth at running back than receiver. However, the running back spot is my team’s obvious weak spot.

One big piece of advice is that you should know the details of your league’s scoring system. In a standard league I would have drafted very differently. Another rule of thumb I follow is waiting until the very end of the draft to select a kicker and defense.
