Week 3 of the preseason means lots of playing time for starters. Look for Cam Newton and Tom Brady to play a lot in this one.

New England traveling to Carolina would be a primetime matchup late in the regular season, and the same holds true for Week 3 of the preseason. Football fans can catch this matchup all over the country on NFL Network.

That’s excellent news for fans of Tom Brady and Cam Newton. Both signal callers are expected to get lots of time in this one. It wouldn’t be at all surprising to see both stars play into the third quarter. Don’t expect either Ron Rivera or Bill Belichick to show off all of their plays on Friday night, but they both want to work their quarterbacks into a good rhythm.

Unfortunately for Panthers fans, their favorite team will go into this game pretty banged up. Three starters will miss out for Carolina along the offensive line. That could do a lot to disrupt the team’s efforts to get into a flow offensively. On the flip side, it should be a great opportunity for the Patriots defense to gain some confidence.

Tom Brady will also be salivating at the thought of taking on this inexperienced Panthers secondary. Carolina is expected to start two rookies in their back four. Rashaan Gaulden and Donte Jackson may have big futures in the NFL, but neither player has much experience. Brady will baptise them by fire on Friday night.

Next. Panthers should sit Cam Newton against the Patriots. dark

In terms of preseason football, this game should just about as entertaining as it gets. For fans desperate to see the regular season arrive, the Patriots at Panthers might be as close to big time football as you can get prior to Week 1. Tune in Friday night to get your fix.
