Russell Wilson, the Seahawks and their revamped defense travel to Minnesota to face Kirk Cousins and one of the best defenses in football for the last meaningful week of preseason play.

The Legion of Boom has joined the Supersonics as a part of Seattle sports lore and history. With the defense that had given the team its identity disbanded and spread among different teams, the 2018 Seahawks will be a very different team than the teams we’ve come to know.

Tonight will be a last test before games start to matter for cornerback Dontae Johnson and safety Maurice Alexander, both in their first seasons in Seattle, to show that they can be trustworthy options as starters in the Seahawks secondary.

On offense, veteran wide receiver Brandon Marshall is still trying to build chemistry with new quarterback Russell Wilson and the offensive line is still shuffling as they try to put together a unit that won’t have Wilson running for his life all season.

The Vikings will likely play their starters less than the Seahawks tonight, given the numerous injuries they’ve suffered already in the preseason and the overall stability they have at almost every position coming off of an NFC Championship appearance last season.

The matchup with Seattle could be the first time we see running back Dalvin Cook in almost a year. Cook was the Vikings’ second round draft pick in 2017 and he’d gotten off to an impressive start as a rookie last season before he went down in Week 4 with a torn ACL. With Jerick McKinnon hampered by a knee injury, Cook may be relied upon early this season if McKinnon isn’t fully healthy in time for Week 1.

McKinnon is expected to be ready to go, making Cook more of a luxury, that the Vikings can ease back into the lineup. Either way, he was the source or quite a bit of excitement early in 2017 and Vikings fans should look forward to seeing him again as the hope he can bounce back and pick up where he left off last season.
