The 2018 college football season started out with a bang, and an upset as Hawaii sent Colorado State fans home upset and disappointed.

Ladies and gentlemen, college football is back, and from the looks of it, we’re going to be in for a heart attack-inducing season.

To kick things off, the state of Hawaii, who has been in a dogfight with Hurricane Lane the past couple of days, have something to cheer about as their Rainbow Warriors went into Fort Collins and handed the Colorado State Rams a stunning loss.

Now, for many who don’t reside in Hawaii and Fort Collins, this game may not register on the Richter scale. Both of these programs are not really known for their rich Division I traditions. Hawaii is more famous for having a postseason bowl game and losing the annual NFL Pro Bowl to Mickey Mouse, and Colorado State is, well, Colorado State.

But tonight, these two schools were on center stage as the two teams went back-and-forth to try and build momentum for the season.

In the beginning, it was all Rainbow Warriors as QB Cole McDonald was carving up the Rams secondary. Hawaii lead 23-7 at the half and the fans at Canvas Stadium were restless.

Then, the Rams actually showed some life as Colorado State QB K.J. Carta-Samuels began throwing the daylights out of the football, but it wasn’t enough as the Rainbow Warriors offense just could not be stopped, and the team ran away with a 43-34 victory, which put a lot of smiles on the faces of their fans back home, and left Rams fans with the case of the “what in the world just happened?” illness.

It was everything that we missed, and we thank Baby Jesus that college football is back on our television screens.
