An early ACC battle between two of the conferences’ best wraps up the first week of college football.

Labor Day Weekend is providing us with a loaded slate of college football games. It is a welcome treat for those that have been watching spring game tape and monitoring scrimmages. The busy weekend featuring four top-25 games will be capped off on Monday night in Tallahassee.

The Florida State Seminoles host the Virginia Tech Hokies in a game that could set the tone for the ACC. Virginia Tech, under redshirt freshman quarterback Josh Jackson, started the last season off with a top-25 win against West Virginia. Meanwhile, Florida State, accustomed to big opening weekend games, lost to eventual National Champions the Alabama Crimson Tide.

The Seminoles will be under the leadership of new coach Willie Taggert who comes over from Oregon. Former coach Jimbo Fisher resigned following a win against Florida last year and has since taken a lucrative job at Texas A&M. Florida State will also get back quarterback Deandre Francois who was injured in the Alabama game a season ago.

Both teams come off disappointing seasons by their program’s standards. This early test will give one of the two a leg up in conference play. With the Miami Hurricanes also facing a top-25 opponent this weekend, there is a chance two ACC powers start off 0-1.

This is an exciting clash to end a weekend of great football to start the season. Lets preview and predict what we could see down in Tallahassee on Monday night.
