Dallas Mavericks’ Luka Doncic wise to work out with Kobe Bryant
By Dave Daniels
Mavericks rookie Luka Doncic is making fabulous decisions so far.
Dallas Mavericks rookie Luka Doncic is entering the NBA with enormous expectations. That’s what happens when you’re named EuroLeague MVP and a team trades up to get you in the lottery.
Doncic must know that he has to put the work in to have any success as a rookie, and he’s certainly choosing the right people to hoop with this summer. He can be seen below after a workout with five-time NBA champion Kobe Bryant.

This is so wise of Doncic. If he wants to become an NBA superstar, then there probably isn’t another retired player more useful to work with than Kobe Bean Bryant. “The Black Mamba” went through his ups and downs during his career, but his work ethic could never be questioned.
It makes you wonder, though, if Los Angeles Lakers team president Magic Johnson is peeved that Bryant is helping out a Western Conference rival, but the Mavericks will have to step up as a team next season to make the playoffs and start the rivalry again.
Doncic’s passing skills and ability to attack off the pick-and-roll will be evident immediately, and if he can improve his jump shot while excelling in those areas, then he’ll be a force to be reckoned with.
He should be a lot of fun to watch in pick-and-rolls with Dennis Smith Jr., and Dirk Nowitzki will be an incredible mentor for Doncic to lean on, especially since Nowitzki also had to make the adjustment from European basketball.
Doncic is only 19, but he is Vegas’ favorite to win Rookie of the Year, and the Mavericks would certainly love it if some of Kobe’s mamba mentality rubbed off on the forward this summer.
