The Utah State Aggies face the Michigan State Spartans on Friday, Aug. 31 to kick off the season, and here’s all the info you need to watch.

All games featuring Top 25 teams are worth watching. Week One is especially intriguing because everyone knows who is on upset watch right out of the gate. No. 11 Michigan State will face Utah State in East Lansing as both teams look to start their seasons off right at 1-0.

Both teams come into 2018 off of rebound seasons. Michigan State fell hard in 2016; finishing 3-9 with only one Big Ten Conference win. Fortunately, in 2017, head coach Mark Dantonio galvanized the team and the Spartans went 9-3 with a 7-2 conference record. The team defeated Washington State 42-17 in the Holiday Bowl and finished ranked No. 15 in the final AP poll.

Utah State had a bounce-back season in 2017 after also finishing 3-9 the previous year. The Aggies had an up and down season for the most part but still managed to be bowl eligible at 6-6 and 4-4 in Mountain West Conference play. In the Arizona Bowl, Utah State faced New Mexico State and fell 26-20.

Michigan State returns 19 of 22 starters on both sides of the ball. This includes the team’s leaders at all three skill positions. The biggest names on offense are quarterback Brian Lewerke, who threw for 2,793 yards last season, leading rusher L.J. Scott and leading receiver Felton Davis III.

On defense linebacker, Joe Bachie returns for his junior year after leading the team in tackles with 100. Senior Andrew Dowell will be right alongside him once again after making 75 tackles as well as a forcing and recovering a fumble last year. The defensive line is anchored by defensive end Kenny Willekes, who led the team in sacks last season with 5.5.

Utah State returns 18 starters led by sophomore quarterback Jordan Love. Love took over as the Aggies’ starter midway through last season and threw for 1,631 yards along with eight touchdowns to lead the team to a bowl game. Leading receiver Ron’quavion Tarver is also returning after catching 48 passes for 569 yards and seven touchdowns. Senior linebacker Suli Tamaivena will be returning to lead the charge on defense after a team-leading 111 tackles and three sacks in 2017.
