College GameDay returns for the 2018 college football season, meaning there’s another Lee Corso headgear pick on the way. Will it be Notre Dame or Michigan?

The 2018 college football season goes into full swing on Saturday, Sept. 1 with a loaded slate of games. However, to start the day, viewers can tune-in to College GameDay, featuring Rece Davis, Kirk Herbstreit, Lee Corso and Desmond Howard to lead the way on everything that will transpire on the first marquee weekend of the season.

A highlight of each edition of College GameDay, Corso always closes with his headgear. This is the selection for whichever game the show is on-site for. He puts on the team’s headgear (usually a mascot head or other school-related attire) and either sends the crowd into a raucous roar or a smattering of jeers if he goes against them.

For Saturday, Corso will choose between Notre Dame and Michigan; a classic matchup of rivals that saw their paths veer from each other over the past few seasons, due to schedule and conference changes in the Big Ten.

Which team will receive the first headgear pick of the season?

Notre Dame enters another season under head coach Brian Kelly, who will look to take his No. 14 squad to a New Year’s Six game or a spot in the College Football Playoff. Either means a tough road ahead, and with an inconsistent track record over the past few seasons, the Michigan game might kick off a pressure-filled run in 2018.

Michigan has yet to find College Football Playoff success under Jim Harbaugh, either. After seasons near the top of the Big Ten, the Wolverines will look for a double-digit win season or a spot in the top four. Though, this opener against the Fighting Irish has the chance to derail their hopes.
