Penn State will host Appalachian State in an opening week matchup on Saturday, Sept. 1. A look at how to watch it online.

The 2018 college football season will go into full swing on Saturday, as the top teams in the nation take the field and target the 2019 College Football Playoff National Championship. One of those teams, the Penn State Nittany Lions, are among the teams in action.

Penn State had an opportunity at the 2018 College Football Playoff, as they rattled off a perfect record for more than half the season. However, back-to-back losses ruined their chances at a spot in the top four, despite high expectations with Trace McSorley and Saquon Barkley around. This team still found its way into a marquee bowl game, but it was hardly a spot for the title.

Now, without Barkley, the Nittany Lions will look to replicate their previous seasons of success under head coach James Franklin and try for another chance at the College Football Playoff. It starts with Saturday’s game against Appalachian State, a program famous for its 2007 win over Michigan in the opening week.

Of course, that happened 11 years ago, but can lightning strike twice for this school? What must they do to stand a chance against Penn State?
