Winner: LSU Tigers (No. 25 up to No. 11)
Remember when I said it was difficult to pick between the Auburn Tigers and LSU Tigers for a spot in the biggest winners and losers list this week? Well, we’ve added an extra winner slot because LSU’s drastic jump in the rankings was just too good to overlook.
The Tigers looked absolutely dominant against Miami to start the season, making Malik Rosier look like nothing more than a placeholder at quarterback.
Ed Orgeron’s team was knocked all offseason and dubbed “overrated” even at the No. 25 spot in the preseason poll. People knew that the Tigers had talent, but were quick to overlook them because of the head coach’s presumed hot seat and that they have one of the toughest schedules in college football.
Opening the season with the No. 8 team in the land at a neutral field looked to be tough, but LSU handled the Hurricanes with ease.
Joe Burrow showed flashes of brilliance under center and it looks the like run game won’t have much of a drop-off with Nick Brossette leading the way.
This team was one of the most impressive of the opening weekend.
