2019 NFL Mock Draft: Bills land Nick Bosa at No. 1
By Brad Weiss
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers were the only team in the NFC South to not make the playoffs last season, though they went into the year as a sexy pick to go deep in the NFC Playoffs. Quarterback Jameis Winston battled inconsistent play, and injuries, and the offense just never could get it going.
Heading into 2019, the Bucs will be without Winston for the first four games of the season, after he was suspended by the league for an incident off the field. That means the Bucs will have to roll with Ryan Fitzpatrick under center, and with one of the hardest four-game stretches to start the season, they could find themselves looking at 0-4.
When it comes to their first round pick in 2019, they should look to bring in someone to replace Winston as the franchise quarterback in Tampa Bay. That player should be Justin Herbert, who has the size and arm to be a franchise guy in the NFL, and got his college season off to a hot start by throwing for five touchdowns, and running one in during Oregon’s victory this past weekend.
Herbert has the talent to be a very good quarterback at the next level, and the Buccaneers need to turn the page on Winston. Sure, Winston could be a winning quarterback for Tampa Bay, but the headaches off the field are beginning to mount, and eventually you start to lose the respect of the locker room.
