The No. 24 South Carolina Gamecocks will host the No. 3 Georgia Bulldogs on Saturday. Here is the game preview, odds, tv channel, live stream and pick.

It may only be Week 2 of the 2018 college football season, but we have our first big SEC game of the year. That’s right. It’s time for an SEC East border war between two ranked teams in the No. 3 Georgia Bulldogs (1-0) and the No. 24 South Carolina Gamecocks (1-0).

Kickoff from Williams-Brice Stadium in Columbia, South Carolina will be at 3:30 p.m. ET on Saturday, Sep. 8. This will be the CBS SEC Game of the Week. You can find the available live stream on either CBS Sports or on fuboTV.

Georgia enters play at 1-0 on the year. The Bulldogs are the No. 3 team in the nation. They are fresh off a 45-0 shutout of the Austin Peay Governors in Week 1. Georgia won the SEC a year ago and looks to get back to the College Football Playoff so it can win the dang thing this time. The Dawgs have been mighty impressive so far in the early years of the Kirby Smart era in Athens.

South Carolina also enters play at 1-0 on the year. The Gamecocks were just on the outside looking in at the AP Top 25 entering Week 1. However after a dominating 49-15 win over the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers, South Carolina was able to crack it, coming in at No. 24 this week.

Typically, Georgia and South Carolina will face each other in early September in SEC play. Many times, this is the first conference game for either school. Since joining the SEC in 1992, South Carolina has cultivated quite the rivalry with neighboring Georgia in a hostile gridiron border war.

Though South Carolina made this a serious rivalry with the arrival of Steve Spurrier in 2015, his replacement Will Muschamp has yet to beat his alma mater on the football field while leading the Gamecocks. Both he and Smart played in the same Georgia secondary in the early 1990s under then head coach Ray Goff.

While South Carolina does seem to be Georgia’s biggest competition in the SEC East, do the Gamecocks have what it takes to upset the Dawgs at home? Williams-Brice Stadium has always been a difficult place to play for Georgia, so expect this game to be closer than than 10-point spread.

That being said, Georgia enters play with more good players than South Carolina. The Dawgs should be able to beat the Gamecocks by a touchdown, even if they don’t play a perfect game. It will take perfection, as well as a bit of luck, for the Gamecocks to shock the Dawgs at home on Saturday. This could be the best game of the weekend, but Georgia will find a way to prevail in this tight battle.

Prediction: Georgia 30, South Carolina 23
