There’s an old school AFC West matchup coming in Week 1, as the Seahawks will go to Denver to take on the Broncos.

The Denver Broncos hope they’ve found an answer at quarterback, with the signing  Case Keenum as he comes off a breakout (or career) season with the Minnesota Vikings. The Seattle Seahawks have no such issue under center, with Russell Wilson as the focal point and clear face of the franchise after an offseason of significant changes.

The last member of Seattle’s vaunted “Legion of Boom” secondary, safety Earl Thomas, reported this week and is expected to play at full capacity in Week 1. A trade is still possible, but for now Thomas has taken a measure of good faith by coming in despite still being unhappy with his situation.

The Seahawks will also have an inspiring story on Sunday, as rookie linebacker Shaquem Griffin will start in place of the injured K.J. Wright (knee). Griffin lost his left hand as a child, but that didn’t stop him from being a productive college player at UCF and he’ll get a great opportunity early in his NFL career.

Here’s how you can watch Sunday’s Seahawks-Broncos game, in the late afternoon window outside the west coast, along with how you can find the team-specific coverage on our FanSided network.

Keenum will not find a Seahawks’ defense anywhere close to the level it was at its peak, even with Thomas back in the fold now, which will of course be helpful. But it also won’t take a lot for him to be better than Trevor Siemian and the failed first-round experiment of Paxton Lynch.
