Miami’s infamous turnover chain got a makeover and it’s perfect for The U.

It was one of the most fun topics to talk about and see unfold during games last year. Miami was a resurgent team last year as they rattled off a long unbeaten streak before faltering late in the year. But helping the team all year and providing ample theater on the sidelines and motivation for the players was the turnover chain.

If you’re unfamiliar, the turnover chain was adorned by players who recorded an interception or recovered a fumble and earned the right to wear the ice on the sidelines. It was the millennial version of the hit stick or helmet sticker, and it was perfect for The U.

But the turnover chain was left in the 2017 season and the 2018 version of the turnover chain needed a makeover. After all, a new season breeds new superstitions and the turnover chain’s new look is swagged out.

Check out the new turnover chain that will be worn by Hurricanes players who record a turnover this year.

Sophomore cornerback Trajan Bandy was the first to get the turnover chain this year and in a special moment, he was given the chain from Malek Young, who was the first to get it last year. Young had career-ending neck surgery after hurting himself in the Orange Bowl last year.

The swagged out chain features 4,000 stones, up from the 900 of the old version. The new chain is two pounds heavier at seven pounds and three inches longer, according to ESPN.

But inquiring minds want to know. What’s the retail value for the new turnover chain?!
