The Texas Longhorns were upset in a season-opener again, so now it’s time to rebound as they take on the Tulsa Golden Hurricane in week 2 of college football.

Things were going to be different for the Texas Longhorns this year. With Tom Herman in his second year, this was when it was all going to turn around. There’s no stopping the Longhorns now. Of course, we’ve heard all that before, and then we’ve seen results like last week when Herman and the Longhorns lost in the season-opener to Maryland for the second-straight year.

Sam Ehlinger and the Longhorns came into the 2018 season ranked in the AP Top 25. However, that appears like it may have been premature. There’s no denying that the quarterback is talented and has numerous weapons around him. However, with the offensive line losing key pieces and, more importantly, the defense losing countless big-time players, Texas has some troublesome areas.

Having said that, they can’t dwell on the loss to Maryland. Even if they are starting their season with an 0-1 record, the Longhorns can still bounce back and compete in the Big 12 — they have the talent to do so. They simply have to get their heads right, which is what they’ll try and do against Tulsa in Week 2.

Tulsa found themselves in a bit of a heated struggle with Central Arkansas last week, which likely caught them off guard. They emerged with the victory, but now might be some trouble. This lackluster group might be just what the doctor ordered for a Texas team in need of notching an emphatic win.

The thing about Texas at this point in the program’s history is that they are always prone to doing this. Most of the talent and the infrastructure is there ready to succeed, but it’s not all there yet. As such, the most critical part for the Longhorns right now is to go out and take care of business against a team like Tulsa, not looking back on a bad loss.
