A.J Green is football’s silent superstar
A.J. Green is having a night against the Ravens secondary, but nobody outside of Cincinnati knows just how great this man truly is.
A.J. Green is a man that is constantly overlooked.
Every year, he puts up All-Pro numbers for the Cincinnati Bengals, making spectacular, highlight-reel catches almost on a weekly basis. Yet still, he doesn’t really get the love nor respect that he truly deserves.
Maybe if he played in a bigger market he would get the name recognition? What if he played on a team that has won a playoff game in the past seven seasons? What will it take to get A.J. Green’s name out there, and get him recognized as one of the NFL’s best wide receivers?
An act of God, it seems like.
Green is the superstar that nobody seems to hear about. Ever since he came into the league in 2011, Green has amassed numbers that should put him up there with the likes of Dez Bryant, Antonio Brown, and Odell Beckham Jr. All of those players get the star treatment, the prime commercials.
Green? He gets to star in some random Cincinnati car dealership ad.
Over his eight-year career in Cincinnati, Green has caught 562 passes for 8,305 yards, scoring 58 touchdowns. Does a resume like that regulate him to the “car dealership ad” section? So what he hasn’t won a playoff game? He has Andy Dalton as a quarterback throwing him the ball.
None of the small criticisms should matter when we’re talking about a player of Green’s caliber. The man has quietly built a resume that should put him in the Hall of Fame, carrying his team week in and week out. Yet, he doesn’t get the praise for being one of the best wide receivers in the NFL, and that’s truly sad.
