Chelsea have enjoyed a stellar start to the new Premier League season, and they’ll look to keep their momentum going on Saturday. They take on newly promoted Cardiff at home at Stamford Bridge, looking to continue impressive form under new manager Maurizio Sarri. The Blues have started the season well, winning all four of their games to date. They’ve been one of the more prolific teams in the Premier League, likely due to Sarri’s emphasis on attack-minded play. Chelsea are currently second in the Premier League with 10 goals, and only defending champions Manchester City have more with 11.

It’s been a rough beginning for Cardiff, as they’ve only managed to secure two points in their first four games. They opened the season with a 2-0 loss to Bournemouth before consecutive scoreless draws with both Newcastle and Huddersfield. Cardiff went into the international break with a 3-2 loss to Arsenal, a game that earned the Gunners their second win of the season. A win against Chelsea is a tall order, but if Cardiff has any hopes of remaining in the Premier League, a victory on Saturday could go a long way towards making that dream a reality.

On paper, this game looks like a straightforward win for Chelsea. However, they shouldn’t underestimate Cardiff. The newly promoted side has competed well in their first four games, showing a willingness to grind games out, especially when facing more talented teams. The Blues will absolutely want to make Sarri a perfect five-for-five in the Premier League, but the task could be more difficult than many may anticipate.
