4. Matt Breida, San Francisco 49ers

Stats: 11 carries, 138 yards, three receptions, 21 yards and one touchdown

Matt Breida is taking full advantage of the season-ending injury to Jerick McKinnon. He has provided an explosive element to the San Francisco 49ers ground game. Breida and Alfred Morris are a nice one-two punch.

Morris finished the game with three more carries but only tallied 48 yards. His 3.4 yards per carry won’t help keep him in mix.

Breida saw his yards per carry helped by a 66 yard run. However, if you remove that run from the books Breida still averaged over six yards per carry. He also continued to be a factor in the passing game catching three balls for 21 yards.

The 49ers saw their offense find more of a rhythm and avoid the turnovers that cost them last week. Breida’s role in the game won’t be impacted much by flow.

His ability to catch the football means that he’ll be on the field in passing situations. So, Breida should out touch Morris in games where they are behind. This week we saw that he will also be involved when his team is ahead.

Either way, Breida is a strong pickup for this week and should have solid production the rest of the year.
