Real Madrid face Roma at Estadio Santiago Bernabeu on Sept. 19. Here’s all the info you need to watch.

Two of the four teams that reached the Champions League semifinals last year were drawn together in the same group in the group stage of the 2018-2019 tournament. Real Madrid begins their title defense home at the Bernabéu against Roma on Wednesday.

Real Madrid took a draw last weekend at Athletic Bilbao, the first time in the new campaign that they have dropped points in a match. Through four Spanish Liga matches, Real Madrid has scored 11 goals and allowed just three. Even in a post-Cristiano Ronaldo world, the Spanish titans are in good shape to make another deep run.

Roma, after their surprise run to the semifinals last year, will hope to steal at least a point in the Spanish capital. They will do so with a new goalkeeper, after Liverpool purchased the services of Alisson. Instead of their former Brazilian keeper, the duties now fall to Scottish international Robin Olsen.

Can Roma pull off a midweek upset in Madrid? Or will the defending champions open their ledger with another victory in a tournament they have dominated for much of its history?

When these two clubs met most recently, in August at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey as part of the International Champions Cup, Marco Asensio and Gareth Bale scored two goals in the first quarter hour of the match. Real Madrid then held on as Roma forced too many of their scoring chances off target. Kevin Strootman pulled one back in the 83rd minute, but by then it was too late for the Italian comeback bid.
