Young Boys face Manchester United at the Stade de Suisse on Wednesday, Sept. 19. Here’s all the info you need to watch.
The group stage of the Champions League gets underway this week, and two teams will begin their journey through the competition in Switzerland on Wednesday. Young Boys and Manchester United face off for their first game in Group H. Man United, of England’s Premier League, will look to earn a victory away against a Young Boys team playing in the Champions League group stage for the first time in their history.
The Swiss side earned a spot in their group through their impressive performance in the qualifying round, where they defeated Dinamo Zagreb of Croatia. On paper, Young Boys appear to be the minnows of a very high-profile group. In addition to United, Group H also includes Italian champions Juventus and the very talented Valencia of La Liga in Spain. If Young Boys want to shock the world and advance past the group stages, they’ll need to get off to a promising start at home against Manchester United.
United will hope to carry their recent league form into continental competition, as they’ve won both of their last two games in the Premier League. United suffered embarrassing losses to both Tottenham and Brighton, but wins against Burnley and Watford may be a sign of an extended run of positive form. The Red Devils may be favored in this game, but their last game in Switzerland was one they’d likely want to forget, as it ended with a loss to Basel.
