Things in the 2018 college football season have proven to be anything but predictable, but you can still take these Week 4 bets to the bank.

It’s getting into the time of year in college football when we start to see teams separate themselves into the contenders and pretenders categories. A large part of that is, of course, teams starting to get into their conference schedules. But another portion of it comes from teams having taken some lumps early in the season and now having to show their intestinal fortitude as the grind of the season begins to take its toll.

We will certainly see some of that in Week 4 of the 2018 college football season. Though they have somewhat been pushed already, we’ll see the Stanford Cardinal truly be pushed as they face an explosive Oregon Ducks team. What’s more, the top-ranked Alabama Crimson Tide will be in a critical matchup against the 22nd-ranked Texas A&M Aggies as Jimbo Fisher would love to pull off his first big upset in College Station.

Those are just some of the big-time matchups for this week throughout the sport. However, the best matchups don’t always necessarily correlate with the games that you should be looking to target if you’re trying to wager and beat the odds. Instead, you have to look for the lines that seem a bit misplaced or the matchups that seem easy to exploit.

With that in mind, you might not see many of the marquee matchups listed, but we’ve got you covered with how to beat the odds this week. Here are the five college football bets you can bank on in Week 4.

5. Florida Atlantic at UCF – Over 75 points

Let the points flow like wine. That should ultimately be the tagline for the Friday night college football matchup between the 16th-ranked UCF Knights and the Florida Atlantic Owls. These two teams are both powered by the strength of their offenses with some questions remaining about their defenses. As such, the over for this game is set at a remarkably high 75 points. Even with that line being so high, you should still be taking the over.

Just on the simplest of levels, looking at the points per game scored by each team to this point, they should hit the over. Florida Atlantic under the second year of tutelage from Lane Kiffin is averaging 32 points per game while UCF has put up 47 points per game to this point. What’s more, you should also consider that FAU’s numbers also come while they were trounced and held to 14 points by Oklahoma in their season-opener. Thus, with a combined points per game average of 79 points, we know these teams can light up the scoreboard.

More importantly when taking the over, I’m not sure either team can stop the other with any kind of consistency. We saw that from Florida Atlantic against Oklahoma sure, but they still allowed 27 points to Air Force and 28 to Bethune-Cookman since. Granted, we haven’t see what UCF’s defense looks like against a quality offense yet, but with the losses they suffered from last year, it looks to be a lesser unit.

As such, bet on scoring in this game, because all signs point to the scoreboard operator having a busy Friday night in Orlando.
