Winner: Texas Longhorns (Unranked to No. 18)

Is Texas back? That’s the famous phrase that everyone likes to mutter when Texas beats a ranked team, but two straight Longhorns wins over ranked opponents could mean they’re closer to being back than they have been in the past decade, or so.

Charlie Strong’s Longhorns were never this hyped but Tom Herman has his players believing in the system and he helped them bounce back form a tough opening loss to Maryland.

The Longhorns have won two straight games against ranked foes, blowing No. 22 USC out in Week 3 in a rematch of the famous Vince Young national title game and following that up with a 15-point win over No. 17 TCU. Sure, both wins came at home, but that shouldn’t take away from the impressive victories, and AP voters are starting to take notice.

Texas, led by Sam Ehlinger and Collin Johnson, has won three straight games and the AP Top 25 could be the Longhorns’ new home.
