College football: Top 10 players of Week 4 – Tua Tagovailoa takeover
A huge upset from Old Dominion, a big Friday night performance and the nation’s top quarterbacks highlighted the weekend that was Week 4. Who earned helmet stickers this week?
The week that was this one in college football almost rearranged the hierarchy at the top. It was the week for upsets and near-upset performances. It made for the most exciting week of college football yet and overtime seemed to be the theme of the day.
In Norman, Army and Oklahoma played an overtime game that no one expected and no one saw either. It featured a record performance on the defensive side of the ball and one that won’t be soon forgotten.
Once again, it was a week for quarterbacks, and this age of the game is all about big performances from the position. Some new faces shined while one helped lead the biggest upset of the day at home. Here are the top players of the week that earned helmet stickers.
10. Ian Book, QB – Notre Dame
- 25/34 att, 325 yds, 2 TD

Stepping in for Brandon Wimbush, Book had a huge day at the quarterback spot for the Fighting Irish. His legs were as deadly as his arm as he inspired tremendous hope going forward for the Notre Dame offense.
9. Rondale Moore, WR – Purdue Boilermakers
- 8 rec, 110 yds, 2 TD
Moore has continued to remain sensational in his freshman season at wide receiver. His big day receiving helped carry Purdue to their first victory of the season over No. 23 Boston College.

The almost biggest upset of the day nearly happened in Norman on Saturday. Army dominated the time of possession and nearly pulled off the win on the road. Instead, the Sooners came away with the victory in overtime. Linebacker Kenneth Murray played a big part in the win. His 28 tackles were an Oklahoma record and the most since the NCAA began keeping stats on tackling in 2000.
