As Old Dominion proved last week, nothing can ever be counted out in college football, but still go ahead and take these five bets to the bank in Week 5.

Perhaps the greatest certainty in college football is that there is nothing that is absolutely certain. Coming into last week, it would have been safe to say that several things were formalities. As the games played out, however, it turned out that wasn’t entirely the case.

The Oklahoma Sooners certainly played a part in this. Even without starting running back Rodney Anderson in the fold anymore, they appeared to be a team that was destined to roll over everyone that they played. From Kyler Murray to Hollywood Brown, they seemed like an early-season juggernaut. That, however, wasn’t the case when they got up against Army, needing overtime to pick up a seven-point win and stay unbeaten on the season.

Even worse last week was what transpired with the Virginia Tech Hokies. In all honesty, they could have been included in the best bets for last week going in as they were 27.5 favorites over an Old Dominion team that entered the matchup at 0-3 and with a backup quarterback taking over the offense. Instead, the Hokies lost their starting quarterback, Josh Jackson, and watch ODU mount a 28-7 run in the fourth quarter to pull off a historic upset on Saturday evening.

So again, there is nothing that you can say with 100 percent certainty when it comes to college football. There is always the feeling that even the impossible could happen at some point. With that said, we’re going to try and give you the surest thing possible with the five best bets for college football Week 5.

Texas A&M (-20.5) at Arkansas

Anyone hoping that Jimbo Fisher would make his first true big splash in the SEC with the Texas A&M Aggies last week was sorely disappointed. No, the Aggies weren’t ultimately embarrassed by Nick Saban and the Alabama Crimson Tide last week. However, it was made quite clear that Texas A&M isn’t in the same class as the Tide right now — though, if we’re being honest, there are few teams that really are.

Following the loss, the Aggies are now sitting on a 2-2 record and looking down the barrel of more SEC contests. As such, there seems to be a growing sentiment of worry about this team moving forward. Is Fisher ready to compete through the grueling SEC schedule? Is this team talented enough to do so as well?

Those questions remain to be seen. However, one thing that is certain at this point in the season is that they are miles better than the Arkansas Razorbacks. The Razorbacks look like a team and potentially a program that is in shambles right now. A loss to Auburn last week could happen to any team in the SEC. However, when you look at the week before and their 44-17 loss to North Texas, you see the true state that this Arkansas team is in right now.

Even with two losses on the season already, Kellen Mond and Texas A&M are still a talented football team that can put a ton of points on the board. This Arkansas team isn’t going to be able to stop them from doing that on Saturday, so expect the Aggies to cover this relatively sizeable line comfortably.
