The DraftKings showndown slate offers players a chance to win big even with only one game taking place. Here is how it works:

Welcome readers!  I am excited to provide DraftKings content for the readers of FantasyCPR. DraftKings is offering a $10 tournament that is paying out $250,000 to first place. You can join DraftKings here:

DraftKings Captain Spot:

This is still a generally new concept, and a lot of people are still trying to figure it out. The captain spot awards you 1.5x your players score, but also cost you 1.5x their original salary. So how do we go about selecting our captain?

For me, I’m taking the guy with the most projected points for me. Now this strategy is not always going to work because I’m going to miss on who that player is occasionally. Like Monday night, I missed badly. Antonio Brown was my captain across all formats. Ryan Fitzpatrick was the best scorer on that slate.

This week the Minnesota Vikings travel to Los Angeles to take on the Rams. The Rams are favored by 6.5 points in a game with a over/under of 49. Will the Vikings bounce back after a bad loss to the Bills?

For this week, who’s in our captain spot?

This weeks Draftkings captain picks:

Cash Games: Todd Gurley ($17,400)

For cash games this week we cannot over think this slate. Todd Gurley will be the most owned player in cash and tournaments and is my top projected player on the slate.

Gurley picked up this season doing exactly what he did last season, he’s scoring touchdowns. Gurley has scored 5 times in just 3 weeks, and is averaging over 25 draft kings points per game. This is a lock and load spot, I’ll gladly plug it and let others make the mistake in head-to-head games of fading this spot.

Tournaments: Adam Thielen ($14,700)

In tournaments, I’ll still have 80% Todd Gurley but Adam Thielen is an excellent pivot in tournaments. In three games so far this season, Thielen has seen 12 targets in Week 1, 13 targets in Week 2 and 19 targets in Week 3. Thielen’s floor is so high and is a lock at a flex position in your cash games. Thielen also has over 100+ yards in every single game this season. Good play in all formats.

Draftkings Cash Games:

Kirk Cousins ($9,000)

Cousins is getting a ridiculous amount of pass attempts in every game. Through three-games, he’s yet to throw less than 36 pass attempts in a game and the vegas line favors Cousins airing it out. Cousins is $1,800 less than Jared Goff and I don’t think it’s justified. Especially if Marcus Peters is ruled out.

Dan Bailey ($3,600) & Sam Ficken ($3,200)

A kicker’s floor is so good in cash games. They also go really well with stacking. This week it’s so easy to just plug both kickers into your cash games and let them run up to double digit fantasy points.

Robert Woods ($7,000) & Cooper Kupp ($6,800)

Both are cash game viable this week. Both have been extremely good. I’m leaning Robert Wood due to his total targets coming in at 29 through three-weeks. Kupp’s an interesting play but in cash, I will take the extra three targets a game with Robert Woods. Wood is the Rams best wide receiver and is coming off a career game. Plug in Woods and let the others in your cash game make the mistake of fading him.

Draftkings Tournaments:

Stacking is everything in tournaments, it really is. Now correct correlation isn’t always going to lead to tournament success. For instance the winning tournament lineup on Monday night had Ryan Fitzpatrick and a full Tampa Bay stack. It also contained the Pittsburgh defense and Vance McDonald.

In tournament’s I love the team stacks. I’m doing three lineups for this slate in tournaments. 1 rams stack, 2 vikings stacks.

Stefon Diggs ($8,000)

Diggs is my favorite tournament plays on the entire slate. Both Gurley and Thielen are better plays, however Diggs has the ability to break a slate and be the highest scoring player on any slate.

Kyle Rudolph ($5,600)

Rudolph’s is honestly too cheap and tight ends tend to go over looked in these formats. Rudolph has yet to have a break out game with Kirk Cousins at the helm. However, this could be their opportunity as the Vikings are going to be a pass heavy team until Dalvin Cook is back to 100%.

Deep shot:  Mike Boone ($800)

If Dalvin Cook is out or is going to see limited action on Thursday, then Mike Boone is in play. Boone allows you to jam all the studs into a lineup. At $800, Boone can provide you a bunch of value and the Vikings like Boone. Reminder, he only played 13 snaps in a game that Dalvin Cook sat out last week.
