The college football season is gaining steam as conference play is underway. For the coaches on the hot seat, this is the most important time of the year.
Itās crazy to think that itās already Week 5 of the college football season. There has been zero time to slow down and there has been plenty to digest about what has already happened in the college football world this season. Just ask the coaches on the hot seat.
They would certainly love for things to slow down as they try to regain control amid struggles. With Week 5 rolling around, conference play is underway and for some coaches, the end is near as itās clear which teams are going to be bad this season.
A turnaround is always possible but itās tough when things have been trending the wrong way for a while. It wonāt be long before the first firing of the college football season takes place. Here are five coaches that need a win this week.
5. Larry Fedora: UNC Tar Heels
The UNC Tar Heels actually have already played in Week 5. On Thursday night, the Tar Heels went on the road and got waxed by Miami. The 47-10 loss was an uneventful one and the program had zero fight in them.
After Larry Fedora finally got his first win of the campaign this past week against Pittsburgh, it was a giant egg his team laid on the field. They are now 0-3 on the road this season and their schedule is only going to get tougher along the way.
The ACC hasnāt been great this year but the Tar Heels have been one of the worst in the conference. For Fedora, itās one thing to lose a game like they did Week 1 to Cal in a close battle on the road.
To completely roll over like this is inexcusable and the clock is ticking on him. He just got an extension last year, but those donāt mean anything if the program feels they need to make a move immediately. He needs help fast.
