Real Madrid face Atletico Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu on Saturday, Sept. 29. Here’s all the info you need to watch.

Since Atletico’s deserved European Super Cup win over Real back in mid-August, the fortunes of these two teams couldn’t have been more contrasting. While their bitterest rivals flew out of the blocks, Atleti displayed a hitherto unimaginable defensive fragility as they started the season with two draws, a lucky win and a loss to Celta Vigo. Antione Griezmann and Diego Costa have been far from great – the latter has yet to score in the league – and while Saul has shone for the Spanish national team, he’s failed to replicate that good form at club level. However, marquee summer signing Thomas Lemar has begun to show his class and after grinding out wins at Getafe and Monaco, an easy midweek victory over Huesca left Diego Simeone’s side only two points off the top of the table.

In contrast, Madrid won their first three league games convincingly, scoring ten goals in the process. But they went on to draw in Bilbao, barely edge a home victory over Espanyol and then be trounced 3-0 by Sevilla in midweek. While the latter result couldn’t really be described as a shock – this was their fourth consecutive loss at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan – it still amounted to terrible preparation for the derby. To make things even worse, Marcelo limped off on Wednesday and with Dani Carvajal already injured, Madrid could well be without both of their first-choice full-backs here. The exquisite Isco is also unavailable, due to appendicitis. Still, Madrid are currently level with on points with Barcelona at the top of the league – and after finishing 17 points behind Barca last season, that’s progress of sorts.
