This past week we saw several unheralded players make a fantasy football splash becoming some breakout targets for Week 6.

The last fantasy football breakout article I did included a few players who continued to play well. Tyler Boyd and Kerryon Johnson are the two that jump out. Both have been major parts of their team’s attack and have produced.

Boyd has clearly emerged as the Cincinnati Bengals No. 2 pass catching option. His role will only increase with the season ending injury to Tyler Eifert. The Bengals have been gold for fantasy football owners.

They currently rank fourth in the NFL averaging just over 30 points per game. This has made the likes of Boyd, A.J. Green, Joe Mixon and Gio Bernard strong fantasy options.

Johnson has led the Detroit Lions in carries since his breakout game against the New England Patriots. He’s averaging 5.7 yard per carry and is one of the team’s most explosive offensive players.

The Lions have shown a willingness to feed Johnson the ball if the game flowing in that direction. Johnson’s touches and workload should only increase as the season progresses.

Baker Mayfield was another breakout performer who I suggested to add. His fantasy numbers haven’t been great, but he is clearly starting to hit his stride. The Browns have looked like a different team with him under center.

One of the bigger flops from my last article has been Dallas Goedert. Since his breakout performance, he has only registered four catches for 29 yards.
