Even Donald Trump is taking shots at Scott Frost, Nebraska

Nebraska is off to their worst start in program history and while fans are smart enough not to panic about the start of the Scott Frost era, President Trump is a bit worried.

It hasn’t been the greatest homecoming for Nebraska head coach Scott Frost who is still in search of his first win as the coach of his alma mater. Frost’s team is 0-5, the worst start in program history, and this is a stark contrast for a coach who went undefeated last year at UCF.

There is plenty of reasons to be optimistic about the long-range outlook for Nebraska, including the play of true freshman quarterback Adrian Martinez, who when healthy, has shown flashes of being the potential face of the program that Frost needs to change the culture and, most importantly, start winning some games.

I know Nebraska fans had hoped for better, they’re also among the greatest fans in college football, so they know this was going to be a massive rebuilding effort, so they’re not panicking yet and aren’t about to give up on Frost.

However, there remains at least one critic.

The President.

President Trump was at a MAGA rally in Council Bluffs, Iowa, and he used part of his time to curry favor with any Nebraska fans in town when he mentioned the name of former Nebraska coach and living legend, Tom Osborne.

The President of the United States said he doesn’t know Osborne, but he does know all he did was win. And that he liked his method of “no talk, all action.”

He followed that up by saying, “You better get going Nebraska.”

Ouch. As if Frost didn’t have enough pressure on him coaching at his alma mater. Now he’s got the Commander-In-Chief indirectly calling him out and telling him he better start winning.

And I know there are Nebraska fans saying the same thing privately, and it is true, Nebraska better get going, but I don’t think Frost will be losing any sleep he’ll be fired like a contestant on The Apprentice, he’s got enough pressure internally to get this program righted.

Nebraska might pick up their first win of the year on Saturday at Northwestern or next week when they host Minnesota. A win is very close and when the Huskers do get their first win, I hope the President gives Frost a congratulatory phone call or at least tweet about him.
